Last Day at Sunflower Hill

After two wonderful years, Harper had her final celebration at Sunflower Hill. Jane made yummy cupcakes and sewed Harper a beautiful baby doll. While she was excited to start her new school, Harper made us promise she could go back to Sunflower Hill to visit her friends soon.

Greetings,
Too much time has gone by since our last post. Here is an update:
Harper had a fantastic 4th birthday. This summer she attended Sunflower Hill for two days a week and other days helped her mom in the yard gardening. Harper also helped raise five chickens; they arrived when they were a day old. They spent the first month in the basement while, with the help of our neighbor Dan, a chicken coop was built in the backyard (pictures below). By Thanksgiving hopefully we'll be posting pictures of eggs.
In a few weeks Harper will start pre-school at St. Anne's Episcopal School where her mom teaches.

For Harper's 3rd birthday we had a garden party in the backyard. Friends and family joined us to celebrate. It was a beautiful day. The kids painted flower pots, planted seeds, and played with bubbles. We ate lots of yummy food. Uncle Tony baked the most delicious carrot cake cupcakes. We all had a wonderful time. One of Harper's best gifts was having Grandma Renny at her party.

Celebrating with Friends

On our way to Philly we stopped and visited with the Millers for 4 days. The kids posed, played, and got dirty. The adults enjoyed themselves as well having good conversations, tasty beverages and food, and time in the great outdoors of MI. One highlight of the trip was when we visited Jordan and Riley's school-It rocks! The boys also demonstrated their mountain biking skills to Uncle Philippe. Their dad has taught them well. Mama and Aunt Amy hit the trails with Little Miss. Harper Rose and saw all sorts of critters including a beautiful tortoise. We also enjoyed another day at Michigan. It was cold, but a few crazy souls took a dip. As usual, we didn't want to leave the Miller Crew, but Philly was calling.

Majestic Gardens

We recently visited The Morris Arboretum with our friends Brad, Nolan, and Nivale. It is about 30 minutes outside of Philly. They have thousands of rare woody plants, including some of Philadelphia's oldest, rarest, and largest trees. It is set in 92-acres. We stayed in the gardens for about 3 hours but could have easily stayed longer. This was a real treat after being in the city for a week.
